Charles Curtis, MW, Head of North American Wine Sales, comments: “Our two-part sale of Fine and Rare Wines got off to a blazing start on Friday evening with over $800,000 sold in under an hour. The top price of the evening was $156,000 for a six-bottle lot of 1990 Romanée-Conti. At $26,000 per bottle, this is the highest per-bottle price achieved for the U.S. auction market. The strong results continued on Saturday with excellent prices for the best vintages of Lafite, Latour, DRC, and California cult wines, and sell-through rates of 88% and 94% by lot and by value. Overall, the two-day total finished above our pre-sale high estimate – a solid reinforcement of the continuing upward trend in the global wine market.”
